Highfield juniors 031Computing Intent

At Highfield, our approach to Computing mirrors our whole-school aim of providing children with opportunities to problem solve, ensuring they are well equipped for their futures as 21st century digital citizens.  We encourage computational thinking skills, enabling children to be creative, curious and experimental. They are encouraged to design and debug algorithms, and use logic to break down and solve a range of problems. These skills are easily transferred to other curriculum areas, especially in Maths and Science.  Through our Computing curriculum, particularly with annual events such as Safer Internet Day, we also ensure that children know the importance of using technology safely and respectfully. Our goal is to ensure children are prepared to navigate confidently through an increasingly connected world, but also remain enthusiastic by the infinite opportunities technology has to offer.
