Highfield juniors 011PSHE Intent

At Highfield schools the key purpose of delivering PSHE is to provide pupils with life skills by educating them about relationships, health and wellbeing and living in the wider world. The school follows the SCARF (Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, Friendship) framework to support the children with social awareness, managing feelings, motivation and healthy interactions with others.

Our bespoke curriculum builds upon the strong basis of the National Curriculum, giving the children opportunities to develop positive personal attributes such as resilience, self-confidence, critical thinking, a growth mindset and empathy for others in line with the values promoted in school. Underpinning this is the aim to promote British values, to embed a respect for diversity in all areas of school life and to ensure the curriculum is inclusive of all children, including those who are disadvantaged or have a special educational need.

Pupils have the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop strategies to support their mental and physical well-being and to prepare them for the world of work by developing financial awareness and enterprise skills.

The PSHE curriculum is designed to develop skills, language and strategies that children at Highfield will need to live healthy, safe and fulfilling lives.
